Bear Pawlish Master Thespian

   Hello, hello! Here I am, back again (it seems), still alive. It's been a very long time since my last post and I must say I've been through quite a lot during the last year and a half, not to mention the issues I've been facing with my nails, which are still on their way to recover (so please be patient, they're definitely not fine yet).
I'd like to celebrate, though, so I'm taking you all to Sacramento, California, to meet another amazing American indie brand: Bear Pawlish
I'm going to show you Master Thespian, a glorious blue polish from the Over the Rainbow Collection launched in June 2015.
This is a very peculiar varnish, in fact it's like having three different polishes all in one:
- while under the sunlight, Master Thespian is a striking linear holographic blue;
- under artificial lights, in dim-light or indirect sunlight it becomes a scattered holo, due to some holographic flakes mixed with the ordinary linear pigment;
- when in the shade any holographic effect turns off, leaving a huge amount of white particles.
Its behaviour (in the last two lighting conditions) made me immediately think of Ozotic Scatter 914, also because even the base colour is a shifter: while it's a plain deep blue under the sunlight, it turns into a blue-to-indigo metallic/chrome tone in the shade and under the lamps.
The formula in this one is a bit thicker than usual, yet easily manageable and very quick drying, and therefore I loved it. No longevity issues to declare.
Well, even though I've firstly bought it because of its striking linear effect, let me tell you I've been amazed also by its hidden personalities, and I've ended up loving it even more than expected!
This has been my very first Bear Pawlish (together with Clever Boy), but I sense it's not going to be alone for that long...
What about you? Do you have any? Do you like this one?

«·´¨*·.¸¸ •¸¸.·*¨`·»

    1. Aneta <3 thanks a lot!
      I think everything goes back to the floods: I went to help some friends restore their shop and, besides some breaks, I've come in contact with the mud and who knows what was in there... After a few time my nails started to peel, they were weak and damaged and I had them all broken with no results at all in making them grow longer again nor getting better, in spite of any treatment. It took a very long time to make some improvements, and now they seem to be a little stronger, even if it still takes ages for them to grow longer again -.- We'll see what's to come!

    2. Do you know I had a similar issue? But the reason was formaldehyde in a nail polish base and in some lacquers. I've almost lost two nails, suffered from onycholysis :(
      I've read this happens to workers who had contact with concrete or cement, don't remember which one. Did you have? Maybe...

    3. Oh my, that's awful! I had the very same issue with formaldehyde: before I knew about the whole NPA web world, I was using a strengthening basecoat which didn't strengthen my nails at all, on the contrary they were peeling and super thin. Later on I discovered it was because of formaldehyde, and it took me almost two years to get my nails recovered. I've been using Nailtrition by Orly ever since. That's why I'm so fussy about INCI and usually go for B3F and B5F, especially when it comes to treatments. I'd like to try new bases out, but you never know how nails might react, so... I keep my tracks onto the old road :D

      By the way, concrete or cement? Not that I'm aware, but who knows what's in alluvial mud? Perhaps it was even radioactive :D

    4. Oh my, radioactive, please no :D But formaldehyde in this is possible... when buildings soak and so on...
      I didn't know you suffered from this formaldehyde sh*t. Now I know it was OPI's base coat fault, but not only... My two nails were weakened and didn't lay totally in their beds asides, then an infection was added, they were looking awful and thin. I needed a few months and a medicine to make them look better, still they need let's say 10% to look like they used to earlier. Now I carefully choose brands and don't use even these that put formaldehyde resin into their bottles!

    5. Oh my, did you use Nail Envy? I've got a sample but I'm afraid of using it because of formaldehyde compounds in its INCI. Despite all the positive reviews, I've come across some ladies who experienced peeling nails and some other serious issues, so I definitely don't want to go back to those days. Nailtrition is my panacea <3
      Unfortunately it's a very long path to recover nail issues, and your experience is surely worse than mine with treatments, since I luckily didn't have to turn to medicaments.
      My index and middle finger too suffered more damage than the others... Let's hope our healing tools will succeed in making them look like they were before!

    6. No, it was a base coat for natural nails. OPI is mental to demand such prices and put such sh*t into their bottles :(

      Elimina
    7. Indeed :( May I ask which base are you using now? I'm quite curious about safe products, and since we seem to have experienced the same issues it might be good for me too!
